Masters & PhD at MIT

It was spring 2011, and Steve and I were masters students at MIT. The Boston Bruins won the Stanley Cup. In Boston, the championship teams parade through the city on amphibious Duck Boats. One of the championship players was Rich Peverley, originally from my hometown of Guelph, Ontario. My step-dad, Chris Clark, was the editor of the local Guelph newspaper, and asked if I could get a photo of Rich in the parade for the paper. So I asked Steve if he’d come along to help me with this photo assignment. If you know Steve, you know that of course he agreed, while bringing his own camera (also a sign for one of his friends - David S. - that we taped to a street sign, as part of some prank? There was always something.) As two Canadian, non-Bruins fans, we still had a great time at the celebration. We patiently waited as the parade rolled by. Out of pure luck, we happened to be standing on the correct side of the Duck Boat, where Rich was standing, and he even held the cup as he went by! I snapped a terrible photo and Steve took what became the front page picture for the Guelph Tribune. My step-dad wrote his newspaper column about the process, and Steve’s success.
