I meet Stephen when we was Stevie. He was so curious and fun to talk to. I knew he would have that curious mind his whole life. I didn't get a chance to talk to Stephen again. However, I was sent his TED talk when I was at home - going through chemotherapy and radiation. I was struggling with motivation and seeing his talk was a very personal and uplifting experience. His determination and curiosity helped me see the glass as 1/2 full not 1/2 empty. I was excited to see him all grown up and yet sad to see all that he was dealing with. It made me think more about my future, about a positive attitude in the face of adversity. I am convinced this attitude was a big part of my recovery. I didn't get a chance to tell him how inspirational he was for me but I want his family to know how he touched the lives of so many - including me.
