Steven was the kindest, most humble and intellectually curious guy I ever met. That said, he was probably also the world's most merciless "Sting-pong" player (why did I never learn??). Who else asks you to help him deadlift a 200lb tree stump into his apartment, and then gives you a lump of fossilized turtle poop for Christmas? Steven's enthusiasm for the physical world was contagious. I always appreciated how willing he was to share his vast knowledge and kindle that same wonder in those around him. A true teacher.
